Does your skin look and feel like it's had the life sucked out of it?  Summer is over, and you've gone through sun, humidity, vacation and no time for proper skin care.  Nurse your skin back to radiant clear beauty with skin rehab.

Dry, Dull Complexion
Cause: Too much sun exposure without protection can turn healthy skin to dry, dull complexion.

Home remedy: Use a gentle exfoliating scrub to remove superficial accumulation of dead cells.  This allows new healthy cells to surface.  Follow with a kaolin clay facial mask.

Prevention: Nothing takes the place of proper skin care, to help prevent dry, dull complexion.  Start with a gentle lotion cleanser free of sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS).  Use a toner to close pores and finish the cleansing process.  Moisturize with a shea butter day cream.  Use a zinc oxide SPF 30 natural sunscreen when exposed to long periods of sun.

Oily, Shiny Complexion
Cause: There can be different causes for oily, shiny skin.  You may have naturally oily skin, while others may get oily due to hormone changes, stress or due to certain foods.

Home remedy: Use a cleanser formulated for oily skin but that is free of sodium lauryl sulfate or salicylates.  Salicylic acid can be very irritating and eventually may cause sensitivity.   Benzoil peroxide is another product that may be irritating.  Moisturize with a sensitive skin non-irritating oil-free moisturizer or facial lotion.

Prevention:  Spicy foods are said to contribute to perspiration, making your skin look shiny.  Fruits and vegetables high in vitamin A may slow skin's oil production.  Once or twice a week use a mild exfoliating scrub to remove dead cells.  Once a month use a kaolin clay mask.  Loose mineral makeup is non-comedogenic and a good choice to minimize oily shine.

Acne, Blemished Complexion
Cause: The bottom line in oily skin is clogged pores which cause accumulation of bacteria.  This results with acne and blemishes.  Some products, including skin care and cosmetics can actually clog pores with harsh ingredients.

Home remedy: Only use non-comedogenic, sensitive skin care products.  Keep your skin clean with non-irritating products and maintain a regular routine of cleaning your skin.  Minimize oil by using an oil-free facial lotion.  Use an alcohol free toner to minimize oil and to close and tighten pores.

Prevention: Cleaning your skin daily with non-irritating, sensitive skin care products is a must.  Eat wholesome foods that are very low in simple carbohydrates, such as sugar and white flour products, and higher in green vegetables.

Cleure has a complete line of non-irritating, sensitive skin care products for all complexions.
