Why Use Skin Care with Gluten Free Ingredients

Gluten intolerance is typically associated with celiac disease.  This disease is thought to be a result of genetic and environmental factors in which damage has resulted to the intestinal wall and is typically accompanied by chronic symptoms. With celiac disease the body's immune system overreacts in response to gluten.  Gluten sensitivity symptoms can be from food, but also by using gluten ingredients in personal care and skin care products.

What is not Gluten Free Ingredients
To manage gluten sensitivity, avoid products with the following ingredients:
  • Barley
  • Bulgur
  • durum
  • Farina
  • Graham flour
  • Rye
  • Semolina
  • Spelt
  • Triticale
  • Wheat
  • Oats
Your skin is the largest organ in your body and able to absorb ingredients introduced on it.  If you do accidentally eat or absorb gluten through your skin, you may experience symptoms associated with gluten intolerance of abdominal pain and diarrhea.  It may take weeks or even months to heal the small intestine back to health.  There is no known cure for celiac disease.  Managing what you eat or use on your body with gluten free ingredients is vital to minimizing symptoms.
